We have 2 small children. The funeral is going to be 2 states away. We would have to fly. Is it imperative that my children and I attend the funeral, or should my husband go alone? I didn't know her well; I only saw her a few times.

If it isn't a financial burden you should go. Having the support of your spouse beside you during a time like that is very conforting. So it would be more for your husband than anything. I would not want my husband to have to go through that alone.

no it is not necessary to go, you can send a card with a fond memory or something that is appropriate, Your husband might be expected to attend but it is entirely up to him as to weather he goes.

talk to your husband and find out how he feels....if he really wants you there, then go...if you can convince him that it's not a good idea and he is ok with that...stay home with the kids....whatever you decide..do it together and make sure he is ok...it is his grandmother....
