Each new food your child was given should have been introducted a week or so apart, so you could make sure your child didn't react to it. Back up and think about the last few foods you introducted and remove them from her diet. See if the rash clears up.
If it clears up.... wait a week or so longer. Then introduce one food at a time and see what happens.
Best Wishes,
Sue

It's hard to tell at that age. My son used to get a diaper rash from green beans and anything too acidic (too much apple juice or orange juice).
First you have to stop feeding her apple sauce and don't introduce anything new until you clear up the diaper rash.
If you find balmex isn't working you can go to her doctor and get a prescription cream or try Polysporin cream or ointment.
The one for kids has a numbing agent in it which helps numb any discomfort the child may have from the rash while it clears it up. This is available at your local pharmacy or grocery store.
Easy to get and cheaper than a prescription (about $10 Canadian).
Once the rash has cleared, you can reintroduce apple sauce but watch her to see if she develops another rash. If she does, she may have an allergy or just be sensitive to certain foods. Especially those that are acidic. Many babies are.
Either way, make sure to mention this to her paediatrician at your next visit. They may want to monitor her for future reactions.
Good Luck and enjoy this exciting time together!!

My Dr. told me that Desitin was the only way to go since it has a higher level of Zinc Oxide. I beleive that is 40%. The others only have between 11 and 18%. Check yours. Then switch if you can. Should clear it up quite quickly(a day) if it is diaper rash. In the mean time discontinue the applesauce and see what happens. Don't introduce anything new until the rash clears up. And is the rash only in her diaper area?

Babies get rashes, there is nothing you can do to prevent it. To clear it up I just used powder with my little boy and let him air out every now and then. That worked for me but it might not work for you. As far as the food if it is an allergy then they will get a rash around their mouths too if you continue to use whatever. You can tell if it's an allergy it will be worse then a rash on the bum. And don't waste your money on the doctor unless it is aparently serious like lasting well over a week. Stop giving her apple sauce and see if it clears up. Then give her just a little and see if it comes back. I hope this helped.

I would stop using the balmex and start using plain vaseline. Is it diaper rash or allergy? If you make sure she is kept dry, check her diaper often and change as soon as she is wet or soiled, use a baby wash cloth ,(instead of wipes),to clean her bottom when you change
her then it may not be diaper rash. If she has just started juice then leave it off for a few days or until rash has cleared up, if rash appears again when you begin the juice again, then you will know it is the juice.
I suggested using wash cloth instead of wipes because my children were allergic to them.
Do you dilute the juice? The natural acids may be too strong, I use to dilute juices when 1st introducing them by half water half juice.

Don't give her apple sauce for a few days and see if it clears up....I recommend not using baby wipes and washing the baby's behind in the sink w/ soap that doesn't contain lotions, perfume, etc...(I like Irish Spring) and pat her behind dry. If you can let her air dry, the better. I have never used oinment on my children but then again I do not know how serious your daughters rash is...try letting her run around w/out a diaper and if you must put one on, change her everytime she goes....no matter if it's a little pee or poop...but the sooner you remove the bacteria away from her skin the sooner the rash will go away.

If it is just in her diaper area & Not all over then it probably diaper rash from the acid in the juice. Be sure she is dry after each diaper change ( we used a hair dryer on cool). Also is possible lay her on a changing pad in sunlight ( be care flu don't let her get sun burned) with out a diaper. Be sure you put diaper rash ointment on her really thick to protect her skin I used Desitin for a preventative only once my kids had diaper rash I used calendula(sp) ointment from the health food store my midwife told me about it. It's made from marigold and helps heal the skin. You can also try lanolin on her bottom ( like the type for breastfeeding). Hope this helps!

You can't tell yourself if it is allergies or a diaper rash, if it does not subside in a few days have the dr look at it your baby could have thrush(a yeast infection) and need medication or your baby may be prone to rashes now that youve introduced foods.
