38 weeks from conception. however, doctors go back two weeks (the date of your last period) and count 40 weeks from there. so technically, 38 weeks from conception or 40 weeks from the first day of your last period.

Well pregnancy is generally 40 weeks...but technically it is 38, because it is counted from the first day of a woman's last period, meaning a baby is considered 2 weeks when it is conceived. A fetus is viable after 23 weeks I think? I might be wrong on that, but even though a full-term pregnancy is 40 weeks, a baby can survive well before that.

The baby turns into a baby from the "amniotic sac" you see in the ultrasounds early at about 4 weeks. I found out I was pg when I was only 2 weeks.. We had to wait until 4 to see the actual baby, and not just the sac.
