I am white and I deal with a lot of black people. They treat white folks really bad. I know the history could be the reason. But why bring back the past ? shouldn't we live happily and call that a lesson learnt.

They always seem to bring the past no matter what?

The same question can be asked of the White people also. Nobody can forget the past History so easily.. It is the insecurity that dictates the nature of a person towards another. Especially racially different ones. But it is true we should change and live happily forgetting the past. For this the Whites should show the change of heart first. Love can only echo Love. I am not a White or Black but a Brown!

I think a lot of it has to do with the upper whites meaning the government. Because it's not equality meaning the old whites in congress want to keep that old good ol boy mentality and keep every other race down. It's like they are saying we will let a few of you get some success but not a lot thats why a lot of brothas and sistas are upset at white people because they can see the racism with the government. Many will say it's some blacks in congress but those blacks in congress can care less about the blacks who are struggling in the ghetto and not every black from the ghetto is a thug or dealing drugs yet the good ol boys in government make it out to be that way and the police too and it's a lot up undercover klansmen working for the police too. I think that attitude with blacks and white will change if it's ever going to be some equality and the good ol boy racist government is not going to allow that.

I am also white, and the supervisor of a young, black male. Sometimes he anticipates that my actions are discriminating against him because of his race, but it isn't so. We've worked together for two years now. This still occurs every once in a while. We will talk about it together and try to understand what brought it on.
I guess some people fear talking about it between the different races because of a racial complaint. Maybe I, as the white person, need to understand that while I don't see something as a big deal it is to him. Probably because he does experience little jabs from people about his race every few days or so.
We can't call it a lesson learned, because it still isn't a lesson learned by so many people.

Are you serious???? Racism is alive and well today. The things you say black people experienced in the past are happening TODAY. Sure it's not as obvious as it was back in the days of slavery. But be there when the black person walks out of the room and someone uses the "N" word. Or when someone just uses the word in front of you because they ASSUME you will agree because you are white. You want to know if you're racist or not? Wait till your son or daughter comes home with someone of a different race. Or, what if someone of a different race came onto you @ work or in a public setting? Prejudices run deep. Black people are not racist. Open your eyes. White people are still descriminating against black people on a regular basis.

Ihave pondered the same thing after hearing my daughter tell me about her day at High School. She is bullied, intimidated, and daily. I understand that African Americans had horrible abuse and am saddened by the inhumane treatment given by the White man. It’s awful but is over. My grandparents did not have anything to do with it. My parents did not either or myself. I know that many Blacks are told to be tough and don’t take anything from anybody as a form of survival. But it has gone way over the line. My daughter is counting the days until she can graduate. She is really scared and tries her best to avoid confrontations at any cost. She has black friends as well. So, it is not totally that way. Being the minority at her school has been difficult to say the least. Cracker is a common taunt. Now what would happen if she just whispered the N word? Well, I will never know. She doesn’t Have any desire to retaliate. She just wants to get good grades and graduate. So why should she be harrassed because of her color? She used to cry about it. Now she just blocks it out
because what can be done?

This question brings out some very strong feelings in just about everyone who reads it. Okay, first of all, I am "white." My son is mixed. I do not have a racist bone in my body. It is how I was raised. My parents taught me that we are all God's children, and God loves variety. I am this way and believe this because of my environment; how I was raised. If you were "black" and raised by parents that told you all negative things about "white" people, wouldn't you believe them? I am not saying that eventually you could not develop your own opinions on things; but I "black" people are racist for the same reason "white" people are. Racism and prejudice are passed down through generations just like religion is; we teach our children what WE believe to be true.

I am sorry that you seem to have had negative experiences, but just remember that essentially it is nothing personal-it's just that you have been stereotyped-just like them.

Okay that's a tiny sample of what some white people say about us. I'm not racist or anything BUT IF I WAS GIVE ME A DAMN GOOD REASON I SHOULDN'T BE?

Yes I can completely understand your question about this. I can see why black people appear to be racist. I think it has a lot to do with trust issues. As much as I don't condone their actions toward white people. I think on a subconscious level, they are just overcompensating for what white people did to their ancestors in the past. Harsh fact, people simply don't realize what they are doing. I am black myself. It's really difficult. It's like child rebelling against their overprotective parents after they experience their freedom

African Americans have become racist against Caucasians because of the same reasons it happened a long time ago. It also doesn't help that there are people out there that still think we live in the times of Jim Crowe laws.

Racism is going to continue for as long as there is more than one race and the need to be more dominant.

Its foolish to think that racism is only a trait of caucasians. Any peabrain who wants to blame the world can be racist. It only takes a few traits--envy, fear and anger. First, you envy another person (he/she has more money, a nice car, ect), then you realize that you fear a group of people who you think embody those you envy. The end stage is anger/hatred of people you have never met, only because of percieved past injustices, mostly in ones own mind perhaps.
The truth is that anyone with enough will power can overcome such feelings, and rise to a higher level of humanity--something we should all try to attain.
