I asked a question a while back about how long it takes for a baby to settle during day and night when breastfeeding, I just wanted to say that my 4 month old daughter now sleep 6 hours during night then wakes for a feed and then goes another 6 hours. I didnt really have ot change the routine she just did it!! I had a really hard time with her because my birth was a hour long and she had a lot of difficulties because of this, like colic and severe sickness! She has progressed week by week, and after many weeks or nearly giving in with the breast feeding..........finally shes done it!! My little girl is going through the night. SO to all of you breast feeding mums, if you are at your witts end and still want to breast feed and are near enough to giving in........it does get better, i was told it tends to take aroud 4 months for a breastfed baby to settle and it was true for me. Love and support to all XXX

Message to Answer 3. I am a calm and relaxed person and many mothers have difficulty breast feeding, as every child is different, and some children need their stomachs topping up through the night, where as others dont. I think breastfeeding can be very hard going on mums especially when they have other young children, and have simply offered my story as support to others. I feel your comment is sympathetic towards mothers trying hard to breastfeed as this can be a very difficult time. I am a very easy going person with relaxed nature, who also fed on demand. My daughter just took alittle longer to find her feet. My other children are also very happy children! Thank you

Well done you! Congratulations on becoming a Mum and well done for sticking with the breast feeding. I had a terrible time feeding my son at first (after a C section) but it was just because I was so unhappy and uncomfortable in hospital. As soon as I got home we both took to it immediately and I loved it! You've given your little one the very best possible start in life and you should be very proud of yourself.

I just nursed on demand with all six of my kids and they fell into their own all night sleeping pattern very early on...like by a month or so they would sleep a very long stretch at night...I didn't worry about it and it was easy...I had the great advice from a seasoned mom who advised me to chill...she said keep nursing...it worked..no stress!...and the kids found their own patterns. And they are happy adults and teenagers now!

Good for you guys! My 22 month-old still wants to nurse all night. We are in the process of night-weaning this week and he is still waking up 3 times a night , even though he gets no milk:-(

he does get to nurse as much as he wants all day though!

Congratulations! I hope you stick with it for even longer.

I breastfed my daughter for 27 months and it was worth every second of it. She is so physically, mentally and emotionally sound. She has also never had an ear infection, never had the flu, never had to go to the doctor for anything but her regular check-ups.

Keep up the great work!!!!!!!!

It's encouraging to hear the good news stories about how things worked out - particularly if it wasn't easy at first.

Thanks for sharing!
