for example, do you think less of a person or their answer in yahoo answers when they misspell something (and don't even use the spell check?)

guilty, but sometimes I guess that they are in to big a hurry to use the spell checker, and other depend on it too much. it only checks the correct spelling, not the proper word that I was planning on using.

Yes I DEFINITELY do think less of them, especially if there are a lot of mistakes.

Although i'm certainly not anal about it..and I don't care about grammar (suprise surprise *wink* )

It often depends on what they spell wrong.
For example I automatically forgive obvious typos and words which are commonly misspelled such as:

truely (truly) definately (definitely) sucessfully (successfully) etc.

If someone has a learning problem then that is no excuse because there is of course a spellchecker and they should use it if they know they are prone to mistakes.

I personally don't use a spellchecker and i'm not the best speller so I know a few mistakes can slip through now and again.
But generally there is no excuse and it makes people look stupid IMO. Sorry, but that's the truth.

My spelling stinks, I use spell check all the time, I don't think less of a person just because they misspell but I do think less of a person if they misspell everything on a ridiculous level and then what they are misspelling are insults, that's just ignorant. ;)

No, not really, there times people get so excited with the question, write answer in a hurry, and forget to use spell check. I don't know how you feel but i donut feel less of a person wit h a spelling error.
Are you going to think less of me if you find mispelled words in my response?

Yes - to me not taking care or concern for what you are writing (which is ultimately a reflection on the person writing it). It is so easy to use spell check at this point and people really have to act smarter. I think part of the problem is that many people started out using spell check so that have relied on that rather than knowing how to figure out difficult woder;

No , this isn't English 101, why should anyone be so uptight about it? This is not only suppose to be informative but also can be fun, so why judge someone on their spelling, and their choice to use spell check. Everyone has their faults, and if they don't think they do, LOL that in itself is a really big fault.

I try not to do so but sometimes I can't help it especially when I know it isn't a typo. I wouldn't say they should use spell check just to answer something for someone else but I would try to avoid using words that I don't know how to spell.

No. This forum is used by people around the world, for some English is their second or third language.

I have an old computer, the spell check isn't available to me, maybe it requires scripts to be running.

No, I don't think less of a person if they misspell something. That doesn't make their answer or question wrong. No one is perfect.

Actually my spelling is so bad I wouldn't know unless it's really terrible, but it doesn't help form a good impression. I guess in part because it's just lazy. There is a spell checker right there.
