I keep cutting myself all the time, even though i do it slow. i use a basic 1 blade razor, and i don't even have that much beard. i mean i don't have cause i don't let it grow. everyday i shave the beard area. But man, i have cut myself always, and i have blood on my neck when i do. it's not super much, but it's as if i catch an acne pimple because i haave acne in my neck.so those are easy to accidentally rub with the razor.

And how did they shave or how do they shave in the tribes in africa or australia or in old america. Did they also get cut accidentally ? i know they used sharp rocks but that would be even more dangersou than a modern razor, no?

Do you really HAVE to shave? My husband used to have blood all over his shirt collars because his skin was sensitive, and the shaving cuts kept opening up. He finally just gave up shaving completely, and I love his soft sexy beard. And no more blood stains on his collars, so he looks a lot better.

Shaving is a relatively recent thing for men to do. Back in ancient times they just let it grow. Some tribes, however, genetically have little facial hair.

My guess is than in the old days they had someone else shave them, if the need arose. Many men even today have such thick beards that it wouild practically be an impossibility for them to shave even with a straight razor. Years ago, most men who were hairy and heavily-bearded wore thick, long beards. Rarely did they shave. It was just too much work on a daily basis. Hairiness was also part of manliness in their culture.

Are you sure its acne, not ingrown hair folicles? If you stop shaving for a week does the acne magically vanish?

Couple of suggestions:

I cut myself occasionally, but not most times. Get a styptic pencil if you don't have one - it stops the bleeding right away.

If you always shave with the grain, you'll get less knicks and ingrowns.

I assume by 'basic one blade' you mean a one-blade safety razor, not a straight razor. I've tried using a straight razor, and I definitely knicked the crap out of myself with it ;) I still would like to learn one day.
