I'm a guy and I have a friend that is a girl that I have known for over 10 years so I wanted to get something nice for her.

She's not a gf just a really good friend. She doesn't have a bf so we hang out a lot. I would like to get her something nice since I know her so long.
No jewerly I don't want her to feel akward. I was thinking about an Ipod and this jacket she liked at the store.

Depending on what your finances are, go with what you know best about her. Does she like jewelry? (Yes, yes, I know..a stupid question for me to ask, but, most women, whether she is a good friend, a girlfriend, or your wife, DO appreciate some form of jewelry).
What are her hobbies? Does she like certain music, arts, etc? Does she frequent certain restaurants or stores? The BEST gift is something that has a lot of thought put into it, whether it costs 10 dollars, or 10,000 dollars. Go with something that you KNOW she likes..has she ever simply mentioned "I've always wanted one of those"?, or "That'd be cool to have"?
Once you have something to go on that you think she'd really like, then it gets easier to find that gift (providing what she's been wanting is available and within your price range). Always have a few items to fall back to if you can't find what you'd like to get for her. Like the Boy Scout motto states " Always Be Prepared".
Also, don't be discouraged if you can't get something for her because it's out of your price range. Since most people like MORE than one thing/item, then you have more to choose from for possible gifts.

Fashionable clothing (or a voucher for a cool store), Perfume, Jewellery, cosmetics, etc!
Why not just get her a voucher for a fashionable clothing or department store and a photo of the both of you in a frame - since you have known her for so long (it will make it more thoughtful)

depends , is she a girlfreind? or freind? but most women like something from the heart , something that you and she share , like her fav.perfum she wore for you, a peice of jelwery or flowers or a card and dinner. telling her how you feel
