It has to be a Nintendo and some games. My nephew (same age) will fly to the moon to have an opportunity to play on his nintendo. Every summer he comes here for weeks and we play massive nintendo games together. He call me the cool Aunty. It has made our relationship so incredible - I highly recommend it! It's also really good for their motor skills. Never mind the fancy Nintendo Wii either because there are more games and it's cheaper to buy the gamecube.

If he's an athletic type of kid, get him some good shoes and some new, great equipment for whatever sport he plays, and maybe a gift card or two. If he's a reader, get him nice books on a subject he enjoys and get a membership for a book club. If he's into video games, I'd say go for a Nintendo Wii (as that's more geared towards a child than a PlayStation 3). Don't get him an iPod, because I'm sure you or whoever his parent (s) is/are want him to stay a kid as long as possible, and gifts like that are more suitable for a teenager. Get him a couple games to go with the system, or get him games/accessories for a system he already owns. If he doesn't fall into any of those categories, give him a gift card to a place you know he likes, Yu-Gi-Oh! or Pokemon cards, or a remote control car.

It depends on what his interests are and what you are willing to spend?
I would recommend a lego game because if he likes to build things and be creative then that's a good choice for a boy his age.
I would also recommend an educational video game made by VTech because he can learn and have fun at the same time. He will build skills that will help him in the future.

A video game.Nintendo, Playstation, GameCube,Xbox or Gameboy,PSP. That is what all the younger boys I know are into now days. Does he have a bike? The cars that you can build yourself?
