what brand of guitars are good?

i wanna buy an electric guitar around $300 - 400 CAD....i was looking at a Godin one..is Godin a good brand? what other brands are good?

Gibson, find a nice Les Paul and invest.

If you don't wan to drop the cash go with a Squire or Epiphone. Squire being apart of the Fender family and Epiphone the Gibson. But if you've got the cash go for something like a Fender Stratocaster or Telecaster. Both excellent makes. I prefer the Strat above all except the 1959 sunburst Gibson Les Paul that Jimmy Page bought from Joe Walsh. What an instrument!

PS stay away from Godin it's just not worth it. It will fall apart on you before you have a chance to learn a chord.

Go with a Gibson or a Fender if you are serious about picking up guitar.
I have an Ibanez RG that i love, but most people do fine with Gibson or Fender.
If you are on a limited budget i suggest Epiphone or Squier,
for the same reason.
My friend has a Godin that is now basically worthless, the neck is warped and the frets are falling out. the pickups are squeaky and the color has faded. I would ask the local guitar shop man for advice, and let him know what style of music you are trying to play.

I own an Ibanez and though its not a high range guitar (only $140) I like the sound and it's got good quality. Gibson and Les Paul are cool too.

Fenders and Gibsons are the gods of guitars. I can, however, tell you that I have an electric/acoustic Yamaha which I LOVE, and an Epiphone electric which blows hard.

personally i've found that fenders and gibsons are good. It's really not the brand of instrument..its how the person uses it.
