I have a 1998 Toyota Camry, and along the bottom edges of my two rear passenger doors, there is this tar-ish, black goo leaking out. I think I read somewhere that it's anti-rust stuff sprayed inside the door, and it leaks out during the summer when it gets hot and melts. It's annoying though. Anyone have any clever solutions for dealing with this? As of now, I have it covered up with stretchy tape just to avoid contact with my clothes when I'm unloading groceries, etc. Anyone else have any more aesthetically pleasing solutions?

You are correct -- this is usually an aftermarket rust protectant sprayed in the door shells and other places on/under the vehicle. When it gets warm outside it oozes out the rain weep holes in the doors, making a real mess. The good news is it seldom does this in the winter. The bad news is it will begin again in the spring. It will eventually stop but will be gooey for awhile.
