You need to work out your own style. Trendy emo boy? Grungy rock star? Preppy? GQ Man of the Year? Figure out what you like. Anything can be 'in' depending on what crowd you hang with.

It really depends a lot on your age. Abercrombie and Aeropostale might be considered cool for the middle/high school crowd but if you are any older than this they are definitely NOT in style. If you are out of high school I'd suggest looking at men's magazines such as Esquire and GQ. Though they tend to have high-end, ultra-pricey clothes featured in their fashion spreads, they are a good starting place to give you an idea of what looks good. As someone else said, men.style.com is another great option for seeing put-together looks which you can try to recreate on a slightly lower budget (that is, unless you plan on shelling out thousands). Some good stores are Gap, Banana Republic, Diesel, Urban Outfitters, and Nordstrom tends to have a really great men's section.

if you r preppy: abercrombie, abercrombie and fritch, american eagle, aeropostale. if you r beachy/preppy: hollister, pacsun, sun diego, anchor blue. if you r rock/punk/headbanger/metal person: hot topic. really, there r different types on "in" clothing- it all depends on the type of person you r, and the way you dress. currently, the style now is "retro" but there rnt any stores out there designed specifically for that style- ppl who dress retro usually have a HUGE wardrobe of clothes that they collected from randomn and different stores (maybe even thrift shops). if you want to go retro, you would need alot of creativity and a really really good eye for fashion and matchin for a retro outfit to look good. what i would do is to focus on just one or two specific stores (like pacsun or abercrombie) and waste all my mula on there! :] good luck!

For stores? Abercrombie (hate them, but they are in), Express, Armani Exchange, and perhaps American Eagle. Basically anything you buy there is in.

A website, Bluefly.com, has tons of designer clothes on "sale." As much sale as they will be on, that is. They have cashmere sweaters, pullovers, etc. All worthy buys, check it out.

I think preppy, but if you mix it just a little bit with some punk it would look great!
