Identical or monozygotic twins result from the same fertilized egg which splits. They have the exact same DNA. However, traits determined by phenotype, such as fingerprints and physical appearance, are the result of "the interaction of the individual's genes and the developmental environment in the uterus."

Could be "mirror" twins...therefore the whorls of the prints would be opposite each other.

The fingerprints of no two persons can be the same as these are governed by the DNA in the cells of the embryos in the cells

because thumbprints are formed when the foetus moves its limbs in the womb. the twins cant possibly move in the same direction and thus they have different thumbprints
