Having unprotected sex during ovulation does not garuntee pregnancy, but is the only time you can get pregnant. When you are not ovulating, there is no ready egg to be fertilized, either the egg has not come down yet or is already unusable. Ovalution is about 12-24 hours, but sperm from three days before could be hanging around, so you have about a three day window on your ovulation.

Having sex on ovulation does not guarantee someone will get pregnant but they would have a good chance. If you are not close to ovulation then you can not get pregnant, there must be an egg present for sperm to fertilize it.

No it does not garuntee pregnancy your odds every month are 50/50. And yes you can get pregnant when you are not ovulating
