First off, i'm sorry to say that The Sims isn't available for ps1.....only PS2, or for the computer(which is what i have).
And yes! the original non slip dance pad is compatible with PS1. The first DDR VIDEO GAME was created for the PS1 console, so that would be insane if there wasn' t a compatible Dance Pad for it out there somewhere lol =P
Heres a link for one: http://www.censuspc.com/Original-Non-Slip-DDR-Dance-Pad-for-PS-PS2-pr-2434.html
Now i don't know how old your kids are, but a FEW of the games i loved on my PS1 are::
Spyro!!!! (Spyro the Dragon -- It's a series with multiple games)
Crash!!!!! (Crash Bandicoot -- Is also a series, with multiple games)
Mortal Kombat! (It's also a series, a classic! but only 3 are available for PS1)
Rugrats! (a bit kiddyish, but fun if you know the show!)
Space Jam! (For me, ALOT funner then reg. basketball games lol)
Coolboarders!!!!!! (Awesome snowboarding game(series), and the first 2/3 are on PS1)
The CD Interactive Sample Disc, from PS1, VOL. 9, was the Demo or Sampler disc that came with my PS1, and i loved it! even though it was just Demos...
Grand Turismo!!!!! (One of the best racing games around!!......i think two come on PS1, and unlike Grand Theft Auto, or other games like it, it is JUST racing, no vulgar stuff.)
Final Fantasy!!!!!!!!! (Best rpg series....to me lol. And it' also started on PS1, so theres SEVERAL of the FF games for PS1)
Namco Museum!! (Man this CD is great......it has about 5/6 Classic games on it.......Ms. Pacman and Space Invaders to name two, my FAV. two!! Its a CD that is REALLY worth getting, because if anyting, your kids will LOVE 90% of the gameson it!)
Now theres tons more, but i think your kids should be happy with that for a while, LoL. Besides, that's what came to my mind on the spot lol
I don't know how old your kids are, but i was 7ish, maybe 8, when i got my PS1, and i'm 17 now and i enjoy playing ALL of those still........except maybe Rugrats.......thats too easy and a bit too kiddyish for me at 17 lol.
But i'm still playing the FF series on my PS2........and i love it!
Same with all the new Grand Turismo's, and Mortal Kombats!! XD
Hope that helped!!!
-Izanami-
P.S.::
If there older then 11, i'd think about getting them PS2.....
It's gone down ALOT in price, and unlkie going from the PS2 to the PS3, going from the original PS to PS2 is REALLY an upgrade......
XD
and in response to msX, i know for a FACT that FF 10 and 10-2 are NOT on PS1, now FF 9 is on ps1, so there ya go.........90% of the FF series is on PS1! lol =)
