tabs specify which fret you put your finger on and what string by number. the different lines are for the strings...and the number is the fret which you put your finger on.
E---
B---
G---
D---
A---
E---
thats how it goes.

Tabs are easy and a good way to start. Look at the chart and pick the fret number of the string it corresponds to. The thickest string is E, then the next one down is A, D, G, B, e. The only problem with tabs is that they have no time signature so you have to listen to the song to get the timing. Just look into it, practise as much as you can and never give up when you get frustrated.

Got to http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/ they'll have any song your looking for. There's also a community set up similar to this one when you get enough confidence to tab a song on your own.

You just have to remember that tabs are a great way to start but if you wanna get good pursue guitar further. And remember ROCK ON!

Tabs should be a help to anyone who has trouble reading music. More important than that is to develop your ear, and be able to distinguish SOUNDS.
Pick up the guitar and try finding where the right notes are. Experiment a bit. Don't worry about messing up. It gets a lot easier after a short while.

Just type in "guitar tabs" on the search engine and it'll give you loads of sites that can help you learn how to read tabs.

should be enough to keep you occupied. Tabs are fairly self explanitory, the numbers on each line represent the fret and string respectively. just experiment a little bit youll figure it out.

e----3-----
b----3-----
g----3-----
d-----------
a-----------
e-----------

that tab, for example, means third fret on the first 3 strings (ebg), open strings on the bottom three (dae)
