I just wanted to know because I know alot of men are aganist this even when their fathers abondan them

Well, as it happens, my mother's last name is that of my father, so it makes the choice easy. Supposing that were not the case and I grew up with her as the only parent in my life, I do not imagine it would bother me to take her last name. After all, if she manages to raise a well adjusted adult by herself you could easily argue that she deserves this.

My son wants to change his last name to my maiden name because his dad was never around and my mom & dad help me raise him. Unfortunatley we still need his "real" dad to ok the change and he wont do it.
