Glock 21C. Compensated .45 ACP handgun. A reliable and accurate gun out of the box. Easy to clean, not many parts. Rugged and what alot of Homeland Security folks use. What more can you ask for?
Ah but it is sexy. But if you want it more sexy try it with a 3.5 lb trigger, Bar-Sto Compensated Barrel, Extended Mag 15 Rounds, Glock Extended Slide Stop Lever, Stainless Steel Guide Rod

Well, I was GONNA say a "taser gun," because you can use it to defend yourself without bringing permanent harm to the person (especially if it turns out to be a family member or someone who wasn't actually attacking you.) However, such humane weapons are illegal, so I would suggest you buy a large serrated knife or a Desert Eagle and prepare to shed some human blood.

I perfer a glock 17. Can be eaisly stored and concealed. If you are ever confronted by a bad guy you can pump 17 rounds of lead in his chest in 2 seconds.

There are so many neat ones, but for personal protection I would have to say the Beretta .25 handgun. My second choice would be the .45.
I used to be in the military and do know how to shoot. :)

probably a beretta. It has a very clear safety and is accurate. Alot of police use Glocks but I think there is something weird about the saftys on them. Remember safety first..
