Evidence of Cosmic Microwave Background radiation found in space shows that the Big Bang did actually occur, so if this evidence has surfaced and shows the means of the creation of the universe, why does man, in relation to religion, still cling the the belief that a God, singular or not, had created us? As well, scientists have discovered evidence that the Holy Bible was written by man under no influence by God, said under false pretences. So why, then, do humans refer to the book as the 'Book of God' when God, if one exists, had no hand in the writing of the historical document? Just some thoughts, answer accoringly, if you wish to.

Basically, my thought is that humans always want answers to all their questions. If they can't find one, they may even go so far as make one up (if you've been to high school, you know its true).

Religion came about when people tried to justify their existence and find a purpose for life. Just think about it: If the big bang did occur, and there will eventually be a "big crunch," when the universe goes back to a singularity (both of these are HUGE presumptions) and everything we have ever done is destroyed, then there is no purpose to our existence.

Believing in a Supreme Being justifies our existence, by saying that the point of human life is to live a "morale" life so that a person can go to "a better place."

Of course, there are other ways of justifying existence than the religious perspective. Do some Wikipedia searches for philosophical and/or ethical theories, such as Existentialism or Utilitarianism OR read up on some famous philosophers like Kant, Nietzsche, Kierkegaard, or Descartes (who believes in God).

Humans believe this because we're really not that far beyond the "cave", and until a very short time ago most of the info that you've cited was not well known.
We've come a long way from burning witches, but not as far as you might think. We're still laden with mythological conceptions.
I come from the fifties, and you would not believe just how much the church dominated thinking just such a short time ago, while science had little foothold; and I'm not talking about the middle ages, I'm talking about the fifties.

Some things said in the name of science today would have been scandalous just fifty years ago. It would fly in the face of religion, and at that time, with the power that it weilded, the church would have done as much as it could to quell those thoughts, because religion is at its core mystically based and must keep its flock mired in that mysticism.

"Intelligent Design" is an example. The church did not submit the theory of Intelligent Design because one day the elders had an epiphany. It was an answer to the Evolutionist theory that they could no longer keep at bay, and finally had to counter.

Science is slowing gaining ground, but it will be a tooth and nail battle to the end. After all, religion is a "business" -- millions of dollars are at stake.
You don't expect them to simply say "Oh, I guess we were wrong then", and give up their cash cow that easily, do you?

Which scientists have discover what evidence the Bible was not written by God? What's the basis for your question? Can you give us a link?

And perhaps it was God Who created this Cosmic Microwave Background radiation. Maybe he used it to create the world. God is awesome and mighty and His wonders will never cease. From Romans 1:20 He says: "That For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse".

This I believe and that is what faith is. Believing what cannot be seen.

putting your scientism aside (scientism is my word for people who are not scientists but dogmatically, yes religiously, follow science), the reason we invented (i as an atheist will go along with you there) gods and creation is because (the ancients were as intelligent as we if not more so) of the fundamental question of metaphysics: how can SOMETHING (ie things, matter, everything, the whole universe) come from NOTHING (i'll assume you're intelligent enough to grasp what nothing is...lol, what nothing IS :P). your big bang theory, background radiation rah rah rah, while being very interesting and, perhaps, solid from a science point of view (i would suggest you read feyerabend on this question of proof and what constitutes it) does no more to answer the philosophers questions than any scientific theory can. the reason for this is because most of science is a kid in a paddling pool which has no stomach for the deep water and so turns away and assumes it has conquered the deep water when in fact it remains in the paddling pool (i hate kids so it is the word). while i'm here at this another question science cannot answer but thinks it has is the why question. who really cares how the universe began, or indeed if it began at all (you see, the big bang theory is already locked into a predetermined western conception of linear time: there are others and older), what interests me is why it did so. now science answers why, meaning 'from what cause' and thinks it has answered the question, but why means 'to what purpose'. now thats for the deep end so i'll leave you here in your paddling pool

Entertain the idea that the big bang happened because God, for some unknown reason, caused it to happen. Mysterious, seriously..why would a being who is complete and perfect need or want to create anything? Sure, there is the tradition comparing God with a farmer, scattering corn to get a bigger crop at the end of the season. Are we ripe yet?

People are constantly discovering new 'evidence' about this and that, the bible is certainly no exception. How can anyone prove, or disprove, claims of conversations with God or the devil for that matter. Still, something in us responds, remembers maybe.

Sure, there are legends about angels visiting learned and holy men, teaching them. Smart, logical even..who better to teach?

But, there can be no tangible proof but direct experience. There are schools to prepare us for this experience, used to be secret, but not anymore. I know, its fun and much more comfortable to sit on your couch and philosophize.

But you know, you wonder, is this all there is. I answer, of course not!

it is not as though humans that believe in a greater power do not believe in the big bang. they often ask 'why did it happen?' if you know how the earth was made, then you'd realize how unlikely something like that would happen. you cannot assume that ALL believers in a greater power do not believe there is a big bang.

a simple question, how did the scientist prove that God had no influence? cuz from what i read from those reports, the results were not results at all, they were just hypothosis that a couple of scientists decided to publish as a conclusion

i dont know why u guys keep wanting to seperate religon and science, if u think about it, alot of things match up. i guess as long as you dont take the bible so literally

They've just being brainwashed. All religions serve the same purpose: make people feel bad about being human, make them apologize eternally for everything they do (sin), and also comes in useful in denying they have connections to their ancestors and brothers, the animals, so that they can feel superior to them, and despise God's creation that way.

Religions will be the doom of civilization, because they promote ignorance and intolerance to make money, in the most depraved way possible: by distorting the good word of wise compassionate men like Jesus, Buddha, Mohamed and the ancient writings from which some phylosophcal good can be gained. Why are there apocryphe gospels? Because they didn't fit in with the religious scheming men made out of wise words.

Religion tells people to shut their eyes to evidence and keep chanting some silly rigmarole to keep quiet, or God will send them to hell. Even admitting that the whole setup was actually true, Why would a good and forgiving God send people to Hell for so little?

The fact itself that there are so many religions and each curses and excludes the members of every other religion from so called Heaven, shows how mean spirited and totally petty people make out God to be. Just like they themselves are.

It should be our purpose to learn and explore this wonderful planet we are given, not shut our eyes to its marvels and spend our time being scared of God, begging and praying for Him to do as we like, the one who is supposed to have created us, together with all the rest.
Even when looked into, religions make no sense.

In reply to Betty Boop: No, it is not. Evolution, which is now a proven fact, is quite sufficient to explain present-day life without having to invoke any sort of magic or supernatural processes. This has the very substantial advantage that evolution can make useful predictions, which no supernatural theory can do.

Generally: Present day religious beliefs are leftovers from the bad old days when survival depended on the crops coming in and the lions staying out. With little understanding of nature, people would try anything that seemed to offer a possiblity of assistance in order to survive. If the rains came, the prayers worked; if it stayed dry, the tribe didn't pray often enough, or in the right way, or .... (pick something). Now, of course, we know how things work, and religion is unnecessary -- and, in fact, provably useless.

1. How do we know that the Big Bang, which I accept as true, was not God's method of creating the universe?
2. Your comment that "scientists have discovered evidence" concerning the human authorship of the Bible is laughable. Everybody knows that the Bible was written by men -- so what else is new? But can you (or "scientists") prove that it was not divinely inspired?

Believe what you want to believe and let others believe what they want to believe. Stop being one of those people who has to show everyone up as ignorant because they believe differently than you.

As you state some beleive that God created the universe and some do not. But the only thing that is really important is what is true. You may if you choose directly know the eternal unchanging God. This comes from a personal realization of God. If you will only invite God into your mind then God will light the path to truth and wisdom that is uniquely your own. This knowledge comes from the Holy Spirit as described in John 14. "And I will ask the Father, and he will send to you another Advocate to be with you always, the Spirit of truth, which the world cannot accept, because it neither sees it not knows it. But you will know it, because it remains with you, and will be in you."
