Ctrl+Click is disabled [multiple item select]?

Question

Whenever I'm on job sites, etc, I try to ctrl+click to chose multiple items in a list, it freezes, and another IE browser pops up. I am trying to select several things and this is slowing down the process. What to do???

This has to do w/IE 7
