you can try to have it VBAC they can always do a c-section if you have trouble. Whatever your heart tells you go ahead and do :).

I'm assuming since you have a choice that your doctor has given the go ahead for a VBAC. From what I have heard, not all doctors are even doing VBAC's because of the increased liability of possible uterus rupture. IF you have this option of VBAC, I would go ahead and try it. I had a scheduled Csection for my second child and he ended up having some health problems. I think they were preventable had I let my body go into labor on its own. Even if you end up with a 2nd C Section, your baby will have been squeezed from your contractions and sometimes that is what their lungs need before being born so that there isn't any fluid buildup in them. My child is fine now, but had to start out his life in the NICU. It sounds like your pregnancy is proceeding in a healthy manner since you have this option. I would go for the VBAC if I had to do it over again. Like I said, even if you end up with another CSection, you'll know you at least tried. That being said, also try to remember that the birth is such a small part of your childs life and doesn't define your experience! I wish you the best, you must be sooooooo excited!

I don't fully know your situation so please take what I say with a grain of salt. But, I'd try for the vbac. It is what is natural and the way things were meant to be. My first child was a c-section. He was two weeks late, and breech. I had never even experienced a contraction with him. Well, I had contractions according to the fetal stress test but I wasn't feeling them. So, when they did the c-section I suddenly had this baby but had no experience with labor or delivery. I kind of felt left out...like I missed out on something. So, with my second I decided to go with the vbac. I was in labor for 7 hours. Then the baby's heart rate kept falling so they decided to do a c-section. I was crushed but of course wanted to do whatever was best for the baby. So, I had a second c-section and was grateful for the 7 hours of labor. At least I can say I know what labor feels like. Now I'm on my third pregnancy and the docs won't even let me try a vaginal delivery. They say I must have a c-section. There are risks either way and I, personally, do not think one way is really that much riskier than the other--especially the way my docs tell it. But they insist I cannot have a vaginal delivery.

You say you understand the risks and benefits. It is ultimately up to you. Do what makes you most comfortable or less scared. I think it would be great to experience actually giving birth...but that is me. Not everyone feels that way.

Good luck on whatever you decide to do and congrats to you!!

go for the vbac. I've got 4. 2nd was a c-section. then 2 v-bacs after that with no problems whatsoever. Unless your incision was verticle it shouldn't be a problem. Your doctor would tell you not to try if it was vert. Most people can easily have a vbac. My 2 weren't any different than my first vaginal delivery as far as problems go. Good luck

I wasn't able to attempt a VBAC since the two factors that necessitated my first, emergency C-section were still present. (preeclampsia, and a skeletal abnormality)

I would have tried for the VBAC, though, if my OB thought I had a chance of a good outcome.

Like your first responder said, you'll always have the option of a second C-section as a backup. But if you schedule it, you won't be able to do anything else.

Really what it comes down to is what you feel comfortable with, trust your instincts.

If you feel more comfortable with a c-section because you feel it is less risk or even just because that is what you have already done go that way.

But if you feel comfortable with the VBAC, then go for it. Many women are scared to do VBAC's for all different reasons, don't do anything you are not comfortable with. Trust your heart and what you feel is right for you.

Congrats on the upcoming birth!

I had 2 vaginal births, then a c-section.... and comparing them, I MUCH prefer the c-section. Healing was faster, the pain was greatly lesser, I was up and walking faster, etc etc. I am all for natural vaginal birth, however, and if you are willing, then give it a go. It is a beautiful thing to experience, although painful. Talk to your doctor about the risks of VBAC and ask them what THEY would do, if they were you. Honestly, i would go whichever way my doctor would personally go.

since you are asking i presume you are thinking about a vbac. i say go for a vbac, i have a vaginal, drug fee birth for my first and it was the most amazing thing in my life. i think i would have been dissapointed if i had a c section........but i know not all women can, but if you want to, yes it will be great for you. you will feel so proud.
