I've had AVG free for about 2 years and now it's asking me to pay to keep the subscription as of Jan.15. Should I or is there another free one out there?

Try this site... there are 30 free programs to download (one of them a free Anti-Virus. All these programs are open source and the code is peer-reviewed; no spyware here.

The one you want is number 6 'ClamWin'

I don't think its asking for you that... I also use the same one it has not asked me that. I think its telling you that you need to upgrade to newer free version 7.5, i think you have version 7.1 or earlier.

Just go to the website(free.grisoft.com) and download their new 7.5 version and install it on your computer. That should do the trick.

P.S. It just gives you an option to get the paid anti-virus if you want to.
