Tour of Duty. China Beach's song was by the Supremes. Both good shows.

As a previous reply noted, it was indeed "Tour of Duty."
All three seasons are available on DVD from Sony, but the theme ("Paint it Black" by the Rolling Stones) and all pop music tracks used in individual episodes have been replaced with generic background music.
When the show appears in reruns the music is also changed, so only people who watched the original CBS telecasts have seen "the real thing."

Tour of Duty starring Terence Knox, Stephen Caffrey, Tony Becker, Eric Bruskotter, Roman Franco, Miguel Nunez Jr. and Kim Delaney among others. Aired on CBS 1987 - 90. One of the best programs of the last 20 years. All 3 seasons are available on dvd.

Tour Of Duty,was the name of the show. I loved it and watched it every week. No it was not China Beach!
