Well, the obvious answer - and the one which you seem to be pointing us towards, which isn't necessarily fair - is John Bonham but in all honestly he would have been completely wrong for The Beatles.

It has to be John Bonham as when John Lennon was asked if Ringo was the best drummer in the world he replied Ringo is not even the best drummer in the beatles

Ginger Baker, if I could choose him.
Between those two, though, Bonham is by far the better drummer, but I'd have to choose Ringo, just because he got so far on such little talent. Plus, I think he had the funniest (and first) cameo appearance on The Simpsons. Except we call french fries: chips.

Bonham is a better drummer, but I love both Led Zeppelin (HEARTBREAKER YO!) and the Beatles (A DAY IN THE LIFE FOOL!!!!!)
