I'm doing a essay on the death penalty and my opinion, I'd like to see what others think about it. So what do you think, yes or no?

in my own point of view, im not in favor of death penalty, because, biblically, its against the law of God, no one could have the power to kill one's life than the Lord. He gave us our life so, He's the only one whom has the power to take it away from us and no human can do that. in our Law, however, it can, on the eyes of our law only, if you murdered someone, or any other equivalent, you'll have death penalty...
but the victims are still crying for justice, they said that they can only achieve justice if the suspect will be dead, okay, we can't blame the victims for that,, if someone did you a demonic act, what can you wish for that person, of course, you want him to be dead.
but, if we all believe in God, let that person suffer from what damage he has done to you. Let God punish him for that blasphemous and demonic act. im sure that person can;t sleep well, can't eat well, can't walk freely on street because He knows what he has done and he knows that its against the law of our people and definitely he violated the Law of God.

The death penalty is not to stop the hardened criminal from committing a crime. He/She will commit the crime anyway, in spite of the possible penalty.
The death penalty is mainly for the borderline criminal. The one who will be stopped simply because there is the chance of being caught and put to death.
The thought of an innocent person being put to death is terrible, but until a better system is come up with I don't see how we can avoid having a death penalty.
I have heard my students talking about how, if they are going to commit a crime, they had better do it before they turn 18. That very thing is one of the most important reasons for it. If 13-15 year old students talk about killing before they are 18, it's very scary to think about what some of them will be like in 5, or even 10 years.

I think there is a place for the death penalty, but then I don't think the way it is used now is right. I guess I believe in an eye for an eye but I also believe that I would want more than 1 person saying I had done it. It, like everything else depends on what side of the fence you are sitting on.

Someone like Jeffery Dahmer, now that I can see, even if he was "sick". With what was found in his apartment you know the man was guilty. But some that are convicted, well, there is alot of room for doubt and death is so final. Would not won't to be on the jury for one of those.

I do not like the death penalty because I do not think a government should have the power to kill its own citizens.

A government should exist to protect and provide services. Killing someone---no matter what they did---is not service I think they should provide.

Bad guys should get life in prison and be forced to work for the rest of their lives. The money they earn goes to pay for some public service which prevents the crime they committed or helps victims heal.

Once a person dies, there is no bringing him or her back to life. Death is final, and all people, criminals and judges alike, make mistakes. Many innocent people in the U.S. have been wrongly convicted, only to be set free from prison years later.

So, with these facts in mind, the death penalty is absolutely barbaric and should be forbidden immediately.

I think that we should outlaw it. There are few nations left who allow it, and they are primarily not democratic regimes. It has been shown not to be a deterent. However, the main reason I think that we should abolish it is, that it takes so long. The families of the victiims are continually reminded of the crime over a 10 to 20 year period. If we gave them life without parole, they could be forgotten, and I, for one, think that is best.

Yes, because how would you fell if one of your Loves ones were brutally murdered. Stabbed, shot the whole nine yards. I think you would want them killed, even if you say that killings wrong.
Well, an eye for an eye! :p
