because people are different. being one "race" or another and stating the obvious is not racism its fact.

ex. a guy robs a bank. do you want the police to go "well it was some man in a red jacket" or " it was some white/black/etc man in a red jacket" this is an extreme but you get the point. it has to be mentioned.

it has been taken to far like most leftist ideas. its gone past logical to lunacy.

I think I over thought your question. yes for a job it is pointless but to just assume it is always for the negative in mentioning isnt correct either

That's a good question and I personally think it's a stupid thing to ask especially whenever you turn in the application they're going to be able to see what race you are, so why do they need to ask. I have a question, just to think about. I'm white, but if I put down that I was black on an application and did not get hired could I sue for discrimination?

Hey, if racism is to be stopped, then schools, colleges, courts (hate crime legislation) and jobs MUST stop considering race as a factor for anything. Geeze, AA and Hate Crime laws are contributing to this continued seperation of the races.

Many companies have 'diversity guidelines.' These are not hiring quotas, not affirmative action. Or at least, that's what they say. But it amounts to the same thing: the company wants to keep a certain percentage of minorities in their work force. So they do.

It's the Liberals who insist on using race as a factor for exactly what you said. Race-based handout programs. It's they who want to keep minorities down.

Government agencies nearly always do this. I think they have to make sure there is no discrimination between the time someone applies and hired. It is optional. You do not have to fill it out.

it's usually optional, and often just for demographic study. don't answer it if you don't want to.
