Find local theatre groups in your community and see if they have any plays that you could be a part of. Look for children's theatre groups; I know they are around. Talk to your drama teacher at school for advise too.

Hmm. Maybe we could switch places. People tell me all the time I should be an actress and get oppurtunites handed to me occasionaly but I really don't want to. For you I would go with personality. Wait a couple years until high school and then take drama. Develop from there. Also be yourself. I guess the reason people come to me is that I just act like myself. I've never taken a drama class before but somehow people notice me (and I'm not one of the those crazy loud people). When you start taking classes, join plays and musicals and work with the instructor. They will telll you everything you need to know.

Take acting workshops, try out for school plays, learn to memorize lines. Most of all check out all the different types of acting work there is so you know what types of jobs are out there.

Find a Children's Theater in your area

Another thing to keep in mind is that it's a very tough and competitive line of work to get into and also rejection is apart of it because casting directors will look for specific things in whom they want to cast for parts.

I don't wish to discourage you either. If that is your truly your dream that's the reality that comes with it. Try it out to see if that's really what you want and keep at it. If it's what you are meant to do it will happen.

Also keep up with your school work because that's very important so that if at any time you don't wish to continue you have something to fall back on. Also there are other positions in show business as well other then just acting. Some actors or actresses have gone on to directing.

I would suggest reading up on child stars and doing a lot of research on acting because the more you know the better knowledgeable you will be.

A really good movie I would recommend you watch if you haven't see it is "Child Star". It's a biography on Shirley Temple's life as a child star. Times have changed since then it still will give you some insight to what she experienced as a child star.

I hope this helps. :-)
