Conservatives; Do you support a third of every tax dollar being spent on Military?

It amazes me how conservatives are sooo about saving money that they don't care about the society they live in to even provide equal life opportunity for all. But then how can they live with almost half of every tax dollar sent into military operations (which also kill so many young men.. it is so sad to see them on TV, leaving behind their families for a war that has nothing to do with their country...)

Considering all that is going on in the world? I think you would have to be freaking nuts to think we should curtail military spending. I expect World War 3 to start sometime in the near future. I think it would VERY wise for us to prepare for it.

Yes, I support it. We need a strong, technologically sound military, We need research being done so that our young people can defend our country from a safe place. Technology will be able to allow that. We need to be able to keep our military safe no matter where they may be.

I don't know the proper way to stop terrorism, but taliban fighters are dying over there and this keeps us safe. Or would you prefer they died here killing more Americans.


And that money goes for military and defense..think part of that might be for homeland security or doesn't it bother you when people use our jets as missles and fly them into buildings.

BTW My son is in the military...parents of his friends died in the WTC. This changed him. I guess you were not impacted like many people.

it's what they value... they don't really value education or anything else... only security, which they would clearly give up anything for.

it's clear by the issues they support and are willing to spend tax dollars on.

and some conservatives on here seem to think things were better 100 years ago and want to go back to that "golden period"....and that seems to be what they are pushing for...

but just like the conservatives 100 years ago, they apparently didn't learn from the past and are doomed to repeat it apparently... go back about 70-80 years and look at where those ideas got the country... is that your utopia?

If that is what it takes to keep the soldiers & the United States safe. Our money will not help if we are dead or controlled by a Communist country.

I notice the amount of taxes went from a third to half by the time you typed your question, how typical. Also, it is always hard when soldiers leave but they & their families have always known what their duty entailed.

The old, the orphaned, the infirm were the only people "provided for"... Others who had a set back (OHMYGOD A "BAD THING" happened to me) were MAYBE given a short term boost ((loan or physical help) so that they could get back on their feet and return to carving out their goals in life...

THE MILITARY is a volunteer force with more education than the average population . They serve and yes even die because THEY intend to guarantee that their loved ones will always have a free country that will provide for the next generation WHICH INCLUDES their kids and their sibling kids,where their parents can sleep safely and their neighbors,friends and fellow countrymen can also never be oppressed or subjected to arbitrary "rule".
...It is sad when death occurs,but those who serve are your salvation...be grateful that some in this country volunteer because they recognize that there are "doers" and "talkers" and those who "REFUSE to recognize that all humans are not nice or ameniable to "finding a mutually common "path"" . History confirms that some humans prefer to use others to serve their own needs or desires. Civilizations have been eradicated when one greedy self serving or delusional leader decides to attack others.
The $$$ spent on the military is traditionally never enough...many military enlisted receive food stamps because their salary is miles below the salary they would earn as a civilian...
the equiptment they receive is whats left in the budget after the politicians payoff their supporters. Pork projects such as the bridges to nowwhere in alaska, the "union" subsidies/contracts , the ...xxx
So rather than ***** about $$$ spent on the MILITARY you might try reflecting on
what the fact that NO ONE HAS TO "provide equal life opportunity for all"...AND that the society we live in (including all the dooers, talkers, whiners and appeasers) would not exist except for the blood of the young men & WOMEN who guarantee your freedom to complain about how money is doled out and to who.....
