We can, but keeping our mouth open lets us apply it better to the lashes and keeps us from blinking!

I do but I started opening my mouth when I started seeing girls do it on t.v. I thought maybe that's the way it was suppose to be done? But it's silly. Also, when girls put mascara on, sometimes they lean into the mirror which stretches out their neck and gives them the urge to drop their jaw. It's not necessary though, so you shouldn't say that it can't be done.

I don't know... I suppose it's a natural reaction to that particular pose. But I have a guy friend who can put it on with his mouth shut without thinking about it... so it's possibly only something that women do? Haha. Interesting question.

Well you can keep your mouth closed if your putting on mascara, I can do it so any can.

I can... i hold a compact mirror to my face so that i don't have to lean into the big mirror... try it..i'm sure u can too....

actually, i can. i naturally open my mouth, but i can do it eaasily wiht my mouth closed.
