the extra stuff depends on your preferences. i like to have 4 additional devices for my laptop
- a tiny notebook mouse (much more convenient than the touch pad)
- an all-in-one printer (printer, scanner, copier)
- speakers (if you like music, the built-in speakers are crap)
- a wireless router (to be independent from a fix internet connection). a router has the further advantage of a built-in firewall, so you don't have to run a resource hungry software firewall on your notebook.

Depends on what you are buying, and where you are buying.

Most laptops from large retailers will come ready to go right out of the box. Just plug in and go. If you go this route, then nothing should be a necessity to buy, unless you want to buy something like a USB mouse or keyboard, though you have the built-in ones that you can use instead.

If you are buying from a place like eBay, make sure everything is included, or see what you will need to buy. Some take out the hard drive, or don't include the AC Adapter.

One thing that is a great buy for any computer is a flash drive however. Not necessary, but it will make your life a lot easier. You can transport files without carrying bulky discs, and since it is USB, it can fit on any computer, PC, Mac, or other.

Techinically a labtop is an all in one computer. Some people like to buy a cooling pad, just to keep it cooler. I like to buy a External Harddrive to store my extra information and big things like movies and pictures and its easier because you can easily transfer between computers. If you plan to use ur labtop as a desktop such as in a dorm atmosphere, buy speakers and a keyboard and mouse. Definetly buy a mouse, people get sick of the tracking pads after a while. I also suggest buying cleaning things for your screen, it gets dirty pretty esasily. Besides that its really up to you. But thats the main stuff that you would need.

You will need a good bag to carry it around and back packs are definitely better than the other kinds. They wont give you a shoulder ache. Other than than that, if you can zero in on a shop/showroom which will give extra goodies for free if you purchase a laptop from them, then nothin like. You wont have to spend an extra dime.

Depends on how you want to use it.
Buy a bag if you plan on taking it ANYWHERE.
For easy desktop use, get a mouse and some speakers. I had to buy an ethernet cable, for when i can't get wireless. Get a flash drive or external hard drive to back your stuff up on...laptops are notorious for crashing...back up anything you don't wanna lose.
Good luck!
