Does anyone remember Rip Torn running around on stage with crazy hair, throwing confetti in the air? I think maybe it was on The Gong Show. But there is no mention of it in his biography. Did I dream this up?

I think you're referring to "Rip Taylor", a flamboyant comedian from the 70's who was a Gong Show regular.
"Rip Torn", the actor, was never on a Gong Show episode according to his resume. These days, he may be only throwing confetti in jail, since he was just arrested recently for another DWI infraction.

That dude's name is Rip Taylor. I don't think he was on the Gong Show though. Rip Torn was the guy on "Men in Black" who was like the head honcho over Will Smith & Tommy Lee Jones. Check it out.

I think he was on "Laugh In" and a lot of other variety shows mainly in the 60s, 70s and 80s. Yeah,he did that crazy stunt all the time exactly as you remember it. His name is Rip Taylor.
