here is the info that i remember.it starts with 2 or 3 scientists working in like a lab.they have somehow discovered a"window" thats looks into another world.this world apears to be just like ours.thru this window they are able to watch undetected a family in the country.the family consists of a father, mother, and two children.the family goes about doing what familys do nothing odd.the scientists watch this for awhile then one of them decides to try and go thru the window to visit these people.can't remember if just one or two go thru but i know one stayed behind as he felt it was a bad idea.well they go thru and start walking towards the farm house when one of the children looked out the door and saw them.the child smiled and showed his very large teeth and ran out the house and attacked the scientists and ate them alive.the other family members saw this and joined in the feast.all i know is this was part of a short story collection.

Ok, I never read the story.. however I did recognize what you described as an episode of the show Night Visions hosted by Henry Rollins. So I looked up the series and did a little poking around and found this: "It's “Window” by Bob Leman, written in 1980. It was a Nebula Award finalist, but didn't win. It has been published in at least two anthologies: The 1981 Annual World's Best SF edited by Donald A. Wollheim, and The Best Horror Stories From The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction, Volume I (1989)." Look for the article I copied that from here: http://www.xciv.org/~meta/Arts/Books/.
If you never saw the Tv episode based on it, it is available for download from AOL (don't know if you have to be a member of AOL to get it) here:http://television.aol.com/in2tv/night-visions-tv
The extremely unhelpful entry at IMB about the TV episode is here:http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0660986/
Hope that helps. :)

TO SERVE MAN? Probably not, but I'm guessing. There is a story by that name. What you are describing sounds like something on the Twilight Zone by Rod Sterling. TO SERVE MAN is about space aliens cannibalizing humans.

was it by Lovecraft? He had one called "From Beyond" involving scientists and another dimension. And someone getting eating. It was a part of a short story collection from him.

It was one of the new Twilight Zone's. It was a group of military men. The one guy got infatuated with the mother. At the end the grandpa made it so they could see us and we couldn't see them.

Sounds like an older Bradbury. Of course, picking out one of his short stories may take forever...

It sounds Stephen Kingish, but I don't think I've read this particular one.
