my mom is trying to save money on the heating bill but she keeps it on 68 heat in the windter and 82 cool in the summer.

No that sounds like she is using it in moderation. 82 sounds a bit warm for the summer though. Where do you live? I know you'll hate me when I tell you this but we're in San Diego and hardly ever use heat or ac.

Absolutely not! Especially if you live in So Cal, central to southern AZ, or closer to the equator. All though, 82 is warm for summer in those places. Do you by chance live in Hawaii? That wouldn't be a problem at all!

Makes good sence to me. The units don't run so much that way. I keep ours on 65 in the winter and 78 in the summer.

Well, that's not gonna save her money, is it??? If you don't have a fireplace, I suggest you find another way to make heat and during the winter, use fans, fans, FANS! They work great.

My mom has hotflashes and has the AC on ALL YEAR!! I had to buy a space heater for my room!!

get a space heater my parents do it all the time and the space heater works real well, they are only about $10, and they dont use much electricity.
