Anyway to go about this kind of situation? Do I just let it go or actually speak to the students about it?

Thanks

One thing that I've learned is to always be unavailable. Kids will have crushes, that's expected, even on teachers that's 10 times their age. But kids also use crazy logic... they don't always see relationships as unrealistic. So I've learned to always have a girlfriend that they know about... even if I don't. They respond quite differently if they think I'm already taken.

Because you even ask the question I believe you are toying with the idea of responding; that you are looking for a "safe" way to open the relationship.

If the above is true, then none of the responses so far will be of help.

Therefore, I say "have at it." It's your life, your career, and your consequences if the relationship fails and the student leaves embittered and vengeful. But, hey, real adventures only come once or twice in a lifetime so "why not?"

And one thing I'm pretty sure of, the student will eventually get over a failed romance. Will you?

Bah, humbug!

It must be uncomfortable, but just let it go. Sooner or later the other students may like other students. Don't let it get in the way of your career.

You must not act like you know about the crush. Don't give the student any extra attention. Just ignore the crush and it will fade away.

Do not in any circumstances talk about any type of crush or anything that implies a type relationship. You'll just give the student ideas...not good. If you pretend its fine, it will be.

DO NOT respond to it, IGNORE IGNORE IGNORE. Also do not , under any circumstances find yourself alone with the student who has the crush. In this day and age you have to keep it on the up and up. It will pass and when you are old and gray you will look back on it with wistful memory.

Let it go. In a way, not acknowledging it maintains a certain degree of necessary separation.

If you mention it to anyone, it'll be embarassing for the both of you. I'd let it go and act like I don't know.

let it go, you don't want to encourage it. just take it as an unspoken (i hope) compliment.
