that was also waiting in the cashier line, leans over and says "good thinking. I wish I had used those." She then points to her pregnant belly.

I was thinking wtf, that's not something to joke about. I pretended to find it funny but it seemed hella awkward, especially with her husband right there. How would you have felt? What would you have said?

I have AIDS and I cannot have children. Your husband is kind of cute, though. What do you think about a threeway, especially since you are out-of-service for the next couple of months? Then laugh and point to your private area.

That was uncalled for on her part even though she was trying to be friendly. I think a simple, "I bet your unborn child will feel the same way in a few years", would have been extremely fitting.

If she had no other kids with her....if this appeared to be her first child, you tell her, "I guess that's why they call it a 'learning curve,'" while making a hand gesture imitating the curve in her tummy. (Do not at any point actually touch the belly of your conversation partner...that path leads to tooth loss)

I probably would have awkwardly half-laughed "Oh!" or something like that. I would have felt really bad. I agree, that is not really a joking matter. It is really disrespectful to her baby.

I PROBABLY WOUD HAVE FELT THE SAME WAY YOU DID ABOUT IT.

IT WOULD BE ONE THING IF SHE WERE IMBARKING ON MOTHERHOOD AS A SINGLE PARENT AND WISHING SHE WOULD HAVE USED PROTECTIONS TO PREVENT HER FROM HER SITUATION, BUT IF SHE WAS MARRIED, THEN I WONDER WHAT HER HUSBAND MUST HAVE BEEN THINKING.

I WOULD HAVE HANDLED IT THE SAME WAY YOU DID. SOMETIMES DISCRESSION IS THE BETTER PART OF VALOUR.

i think she was jocking. if she was serious she would never have mentioned that right in front of her husband.
if that happened to me i would have laughed with her.
