Asleep- by the Smiths
Here are some of the lyrics- background is very soft (sad) and sounds like raining
"Sing Me to Sleep, Sing Me to Sleep, Cuz I'm tired and I want to go to bed- Dont try to wake me in the morning, cuz I will be gone.... "
WORTH a listen- This song and the lyrics sound perfect, especially with the flower dying and all... GOOD LUCK

What kind of dork are you? You don't listen to music? What, do you read TPS reports for fun, too?
You should be smoking pot, not doing a PSA about it. Pick a subject you actually know something about. Booze ruins a *lot* more lives than pot ever did...
But, if you really want to go through with it, here's a really good list of sad songs:

I agree with+j_d-'s answer..."End of the World" which was originally by "Skeeter" Davis. It would fit well with the subject matter, even though the song is really about her losing her boyfriend/husband. Skeeter Davis was having husband problems at the time, even recording for a different recording company than he was. If I remember correctly, Skeeter didn't write it, though. The Carpenters performed another excellent version years later.

Start with the classic "White Rabbit" - Jefferson Airplane then go into a Nirvana song ("Stay Away" ?) then a more current song ("Chasing Cars", Snow Patrol ?). Gives the impression the problem has yet to be solved.

Accidental Babies by Damien Rice is a very moving piano piece. I dont know if they lyrics are spot on for your piece, but most people dont listen to the lyrics, but feel the music. This song might be unfamiliar enough to most people that they would just feel it and get your message.

Be sure you're not going to use a song written or performed by someone who smokes marijuana or does other drugs. That would be hypocritical.
Hmmmm..........not many songs left, are there?
There are a lot of creative and talented pot smokers.
Why don't you bag on alcohol instead!

I support the Johnny Cash version of "Hurt," but I would suggest "Painful" by Zoli Band.
Other good songs that have a sort of haunting sadness to them are: "Emily" by Keane, "There's A Fire" by Longwave, "Special Death" by Mirah.
"Asleep" by The Smiths (above) is also a very good suggestion.
