If four people are nominated for a position, in what order are they placed on the ballot?

In Nevada, they are listed by the first letter of their last name for each office, thus alphabetically. There are states that do it differently, but I believe that some people would find other methods confusing.

Depends on the jurisdiction - where i live they assign ballot positions randomly

alphabetically in order of the parties.

I think it is pretty standard for the listings to be alphabetical.
