I don't think it's that they don't care, it's just that they lost their control a long time ago with "time-outs" instead of spankings and real punishments and now they have no say in what their children do- other than to call the cops on their child- and nobody WANTS to call the police on their own children so they close their eyes and hope it just all goes away

Wow, what a great question. I am a single mom of four daughters 15, 13, 11 and 10. To answer your question " Sin" would pretty much sum it up. I am very strict and though I am not a "true christian"(yet) If I had not decided to ask The good lord above to save me 9 years ago, I'm certain I'd be one of those parents who, how should I say this "Don't Care".

2 Timothy 3
Perilous Times and Perilous Men
1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!

They are intimidated by the sophistication of today's kids....thay are afraid if they try to discipline them, they will just run away. The parents try to be their friends instead of their parents...it is a product of our "no spank" culture...they don't know what to do about it so they try to accept it and hope the kids change on their own free will. They need guidance on how to parent.

They do not want to be a bad parent and tell them no. Instead they are too busy with their jobs, or else trying to be their friend instead of setting limits and boundries so that they will grow up to responsible adults.

It's easier to let them do what they want. Their too lazy to put forth the effort to punish them!

How exactly do you propose to punish them when they can get jobs, buy cars, and take care of themselves and we have nothing we can take away except our love and advice and due to the abuse and neglect we administered while they were young, they have absolutely no trust in us?
