And also...isn't 'false start' and 'illegal procedure' the exact same ref signal? What's the difference, in motion?

No , "Illegal Procedure" is strictly an offensive penalty . All eleven defensive players are allowed to move freely prior to the snap . As long as they do not contact an offensive player (Encroachment) or lined up in / moving in the neutral zone prior to the snap (Offsides) . PT. 2 the Referees ' signal is the same , however the definition is different. A "false start" is when a set player moves prior to snap (excluding a man in motion)."Illegal procedure" can be a number of things . A wide reciever not on the line of scrimmage , a man in motion , moving toward the line prior to snap , multiple players in motion ater the line is set, as well as linemen trying to get a head start on the defender and line up 1 yard off the line ......

Illegal procedure can involve different things, illegal motion, jumping offsides (encroachment), not having enough men on the line of scrimmage and etc. Since the defense only has to have 11 men on their side and it doesn't matter where they line up as long as it's not offsides, there isn't any such thing as illegal procedure against the defense. They can line up offsides, jump offsides (encroach) and etc. but that's about it. They're all 5 yd. penalties, but they differ in definition and in who's involved.

No, only offsides, and that's only if a defensive player touches an offensive player before getting back on the defensive side

It all depends. If I am handling a Mic, I hold up the Mic and wave it to and fro. If he does not call on me I go really slow to the brother of sister he does call on. LOL. When at my seat, I always raise my right hand, but I usually wait to see if anyone else is raising their hand, unless I REALLY want to answer that question. When I handle the sound I again raise my right hand, but I sit back in the chair and refuse to put the sound up for anyone else until I answer. Again LOL. This question has put a big smile on my face. I hope that others that see this see that Jehovah's Witnesses do like to have fun, unlike what others like to say about us. Agape to all

no..defense is either offside(encroachment) or in the neutral zone......illegal procedure can be on a kickoff(out of bounds), but also is false start on a reciever or back
