How would you find a right angle so you could do altitude and perpendicular bisector

Sketch a segment. Put the point of your compass on the segment and strike arcs on either side. Widen your compass setting a bit, put the point of the compass on one of the arcs' intersections with the segment and strike arcs above and below the segment. Keeping the same compass setting, put the point on the other intersection and strike arcs above and below the segment. Connect the point where the arcs above the segment intersect with the point where the arcs below intersect and you'll have a right angle.

find the slope of the line... the negative reciprocal of that is the slope of the perp. bisector and the altitude. u should have a right angle.
