Whether you miscarry on your own or have the tissue removed, you'll have mild menstrual-like cramps afterward for up to a day or so and light bleeding for a week or two. Use pads instead of tampons and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for the cramps. Avoid sex, swimming, douching, and using vaginal medications for at least a week or two and until your bleeding stops.

If you begin to bleed heavily (soaking a sanitary pad in an hour), have any signs of infection (such as fever, achiness, or foul-smelling vaginal discharge), or feel excessive pain, call your practitioner immediately or go to the emergency room. If your bleeding is heavy and you begin to feel weak, dizzy, or lightheaded, you may be going into shock. In this case, call 911 right away — don't wait to hear from your caregiver, and don't drive yourself to the ER.

This is probably the most painful answer I have given.

You will notice you are bleeding, not the normal spotting. Period level, need a pad. I immediately called my doctor. Went to the hospital where they took tests to confirm that the baby's heart had stopped.

You will bleed as though it were a heavy period. You will go through all of the grieving processes that losing a baby wil incur. However if you continue to bleed heavily for several days you may need a D & C. This will help the products of conception to pass.

I will tell you that this was the hardest thing I have gone through in my life. i still cry about it. But the best therapy believe it or not is to get pregnant as quickly as possible. I was told this by my OB, and also by my GP. It was not hard b/c your body is trying to compensate for the loss as well.

I hope you never have to experience this loss. But know that where one door closes another opens. I had my second child 10 months after my miscarriage. He is my joy, and I wouldn't change him for anything. Take heart if it does happen that something good must come from it.

I Hope This Helps,
Amy

I read some of your past questions. Your girlfriend needs to do a test to see if she is pregnant. Miscarriage is something serious so if she is pregnant and bleeding she needs to go to the ER now. After a miscarriage, you have scar tissue and it may be hard to carry another child full term, this is not always the case but it is possible.

A lot of painful cramping and bleeding. You should see a doctor immediately, it can cause infection. Go to www.webmd.com for further info.
