I have already read the Anne Rice books and "Twilight" (also it's sequel, "New Moon"). I'm looking for other suggestions with an exciting plot (not your average Oh no, the vampire bit me now I'm one too). Thanks.

Anita Blake Series by Laurell K Hamilton
Anita is a vampire hunter/necromancer. There are all sorts of paranormal creatures in her series. There's about 13 books in the series now. Personally the first 5 or 6 are really really good, but after that its nothing but gratuitous sex.
