There are 15 levels of engineering work. Starts with and
ends with driving a cabletruck. The truth is that engineers is
something like all work that you must like. In that area it is
good to wait. To study the astronomer, or civil superfuture
is in the wings these days, launching anyone? The people in
each working field must show their interaction so here is a tip
starter. Electrical, hmm you mean fighting off satellite buzzes?
Oceanographical ahhh, I know relatives breath under water.
So on. The ranters are in engineering in these 6 ranges, also
chemical mechanic, mechanical, civil control safe, and planet.
Those war zone 6 are not likely. Also tanks, planes, and trains
are up to pop, for 5 more those include, autos and ironwork.
So what did we start with 15. The civil defense areas, satellite
planning safe environments, chemistry physics, and atomic.
Studies are not hard, though could be as much as 50 hours
a week. Within each field may be something to look for, idea
is choose work you like.

Most of the people reading this wish they were 21! Start anything at 21. If you were to feel a passion for engineering at 30 it would not be too late to start your education!

No, but engineering does require a good sense of mathematics, so hopefully you've got that covered. Otherwise, a lot of people go into engineering after being in a trade for a while.

No, but make sure you are up on your math - knock out at least pre-calc before heading back to school, preferably a full year of calculus. You'll need (typically) three semesters of calculus and a semester of differential equations. Try: http://www.amazon.com/Calculus-Demystified-Self-Teaching-Guide/dp/0071393080/sr=1-1/qid=1165294613/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/002-1815678-7265645?ie=UTF8&s=books if you need a refresher.
