NOT TRUE! could happen. The engines nowadays outlast the transmissions.Transmissions are jammed with so many small integral parts to provide you with 5 and sometimes 6 forward gears, they became the problem not the engines.Engines now have extremely close tolerances and better bearing material. That's why cars use 5w/30 10w30 oils not like the ole' 20w50 straight 40w we threw in our clunkers.Base engines have stayed the same while all the tweaking has been done on the fuel and electrical systems.

Bollocks! Under perfect conditions and maintainance most motors will out live the Automatic Transmission 2 to 1. A manual trans may or may not last as long as the engine.

Only if the car's engine has overheated severely. The radiator cools both the engine water and the transmission oil. The engine, if well cared for, will last much longer than the transmission.

Depends
If your trans went out at low miles then you had a crappy tans. This has nothing to do with your engine.

If it went out late in the cars life it could be an indication that the car is wearing out. Or that the car was abused.

NO it can if you beat on it but not necessarily..if you keep up with all of your maintenances than it can stay in great shape for many years and never need any part of the power train replaced for 7, 10 years or even more.

No, it isn't.

That isn't to say it absolutely positively won't, but I don't ever remember of hearing that sort of analogy before.

Most of the transmissions last a long long time if taken care of maintanence-wise, and don't do too badly even if abused.

No. Depending on the make and model, your engine could last another 250k miles, with proper maintenence. Did a salesman tell you that? Sounds like it.

Nope, I spent 19 years as a mechanic, and the two are unrelated. the only correlation could be that overall the vehicle has been poorly serviced and thus wearing out more quickly than it should.

Uh, no. One has little to do with the other.
