which did you go to and what would you prefer your kids, if and when you have some, to go to.

Co ed for all the above for me... girls were a great distraction from school in yr 11 and 12, my grades suffered by my social skills were honed to a fine tee..

I've always been to a co-ed school and I would send my kids to one as well - it is a little unnatural not to mix genders together in a learning environment and allows girls and boys to understand each other a bit better than if you had not had that interaction.

School should be treated as a social occasion as well as a place of learning - all lessons are important, not just the academic ones

I went to a co-ed high school and did well. I believe everyone should go to a co-ed school. Girls and boys can socialize and begin relationships. Going to a same sex school would be harder to socialize with the opposite sex because you are surrounded by the same sex all day long.

I attended an all-girls high school and I would have to say that there are definately pros and cons. This pretty much goes for every all-girls school I know. PROS: It really is true that the girls are able to concentrate more in the classroom and not have to worry about dressing up, doing their hair etc. as they would on a daily basis if boys were around. The girls are also more likely to speak their minds and show their academic interests when boys are not around. CONS: Being with girls all the time can be unnerving and aggravating. After a while your classmates become to competitive over grades, clothes and designer items--even if there is a uniform and boys--oh yes--boys. Don't think that just because they are not there that the girls are not thinking about, gossiping about, talking about their latest crush, date, or boyfriend. In fact, that's almost all you hear about in the gym, in the cafeteria, at lunch and in homeroom. I guess that's not a good thing. The point is you can't separate adolescent girls from boys or at least thinking of them, but I would say that at least being physically away from them for eight hours, girls can perhaps get a little more done.

Co-ed is what I did. I find co-ed to be absolutely essential! Most of the people I know who went to single sex schools ended up being slutty (or male slutty) because they didn't understand that interactions with the opposite sex are NOT all or nothing. It is ridiculous to seperate the sexes during the years in which people really learn to understand one another.

Went to a public co-ed high school and would want the same for my (never-to-have) kids.
There's balance in a co-ed education, regardless of gender or sexual preference - why would you want your child to miss that?

I went to a co-ed school and graduated with honours. I think how a person does, really only depends on the person and how they apply themselves to their studies.

Afterall, you will be in co-ed classes once you get to college or university.

when i have kids, i would send them to a co-ed school. if I sent them to a single sex school, they may go crazy around the opposite sex since they are not used to having them around. they may do things that they shouldn't do. and they may be more immature then if they went to a co-ed school.
