I need help with something....can someone tell me what is a counter argument...is it something that someone is against or oppose to something? I know it has nothing to do with this category but i really need help.

Counter-argument in an essay has two stages: you turn against your argument to challenge it and then you turn back to re-affirm it.
by this i mean eg you say the sky is always blue but then you counter argue it by say it is not always blue cos it rained thruout last week and the sky was grey. then you re affirm your argument that the sky is always blue by saying altho it rained last week, the sky is blue most of the time

Counter argument is an argument opposite of what you are arguing for. Example: You write a paper arguing against abortion then have to turn around an argue a paper for it. It also works for speeches as well.

A counter argument is arguing against the other argument. For instance If you were arguing the Pro life the counter argument would be Pro choice.for abortion vs against abortion. For segregation..counter against segregation.
