I have found in the studies, that their philosophies are as Bogus as their culture. It's ALL on the face.It goes only skin deep.
Like Jesus said,"White washed tombs. They look pretty on the outside but inside ,they are full of rot and disease".

Rod sounds as shallow as a puddle of water. Most Asian philosophies are very pragmatic which is why many asian countries do not have a dominant monotheistic religion. Many Asian philosophies teach people about "Being" (focused only in the present just as animals ) and how this reduces the anxiety and insecurity of a grim future. I'd recommend the Tao Te Ching or a book by Alan Watts.

Wabi Sabi is the only asian philosophy [japanese] that resonated with me.
I think its important to know world philosophy and not limit life to western philosophy.

Too solipsistic, in many of the Buddhist and Hindi philosophies. Disconnected from reality.

I'm turning more and more towards them as a source of wisdom as I get older. The west is about truth, while the east is about wisdom. We tend to accumulate knowledge, but aren't really sure where we're going with it and don't stop to think what the point is.
Oriental philosophers are more concerned with harmony and less with correctness. I find the attitude more modest, more mature and altogether more humane. (To use Confucius' words)

They militate against rational thought.
It's hard to make those philosophies relevant.
