I'm looking for a laptop with a good bit of space, cd burner, dvd player, good battery life, and moves fast for $700.00 or under. I want a BRAND NEW laptop, not a used one. Any suggestions?? By the way, I'm not looking to purchase over the internet.

DELL i have tired compaq,hp, and e-machines there not good comparing to DELL.hp kind of gets close but there not common so there way harder to fix when do it your self.parts for it cost up to twice as much and tech supports is expensive.Sony is just as good as dell but its not that common becuase SONY is expensive.Dell has free tech support and there the most common. i had mine for 4 years and hasnt broke down and i use it alot! http://www.dell.com/ they start off at 400 buck so for 600 bucks you can get a really good one.you can also order by phone.the phone number its on their website. good luck ireally hope you pick DELL you wont regret it :)

Go with a Toshiba. If Sony's are at or under seven hundred then grab one.

Toshiba's are cheap for what you get. I researched before buying laptop....ended up with Toshiba.

Dells are cheap, but I always recommend a Toshiba or Sony. They are a lil tougher. Dells are somewhat, but they are cheaply made and they are all I end up having to fix.

try gateway.

they r cheap and surely better than DELL.

in recent years the quality of dell has dropped exponentially.

Also HP and compaq 's are better.

Compaq's are getting cheaper day by day.
