I have often thought that they were entertainment devices to keep you occupied for the moments your waiting for the light. They are not connected to anything and it is all a big joke down at city hall.

I push them out of habbit although I don't believe they work. It's kind of like when your in a rush and waiting for an elevator so you keep pressing the button as if it's going to make the elevator come faster!!!

coming from a place where jay walking is (to the people) considered legal, we have no need for any of the buttons on the street. on vacation, yeah we'll push them...but they don't work

only if i have nothing else to do,
and i don't want to look like some idiot standin and waiting for the light to change, and dosen't change because jsut won't untill you press the button.
