I live in a small city in Florida, and there are few opportunities for this kind thing here. I do, however, live very close to Orlando, and I'm told there are an ample amount of auditions there. But I'm not sure exactly what to do first. I'd like a professional or someone with experience to advise me...we can talk over IM or email, I'm available.

no... you dont need to live in NYC. believe it or not, florida is actually pretty active in the modeling industry.

in miami there is next ( http://www.nextmodelsusa.com ), elite ( http://www.elitemodelmanagement.com ), ford ( http://fordmodels.com
), wilhelmina ( http://www.wilhelminamiami.com ) and those are just the BIG ones! there are so many in florida.

i could go on and on about all the details you need to know before you go to the open calls or email them. i would love to help you... i understand completely what you are feeling, i went through it too :)

you can email me and ask me your specific questions. i have modeled for a while, and signed with 2 agencies. my webbie is http://www.justdanella.com if you want to check :)

i love to help future models about the industry, because it is so hard to know where to start.

holla back girl ;)

You could try going to one of the fashion capitols like New York, L.A., Paris, Milan etc & meeting with agents. But most likely that's not very feasible, so I'd say work your local market first. Make as much as you can out of your local market & you can move on to bigger markets. Meet with local agents, that should be your first step. I've spent alot of time in small city Florida as well so I would suggest checking agents in Orlando, Tampa & Miami. Meet with some agents & ask them if you have a marketable look. Be prepared for rejection & criticism, lots of it. I've been an actor/model/dancer for a few years & in this industry you have to really sell yourself (no I don't mean in THAT way) but it can be very difficult when nobody's interested in your product. Just persevere if you truly want this. Hope this was helpful, best of luck to you =P

The modeling industry is in New York City. If you are serious about being a profesioinal fashion model, you must live here.
